Critical Reception: I submitted Once Upon a Happily Ever After to the Little Muddy Film Festival (a student festival). Most of the reception was positive, and it was highly scored, but it unfortunately did not place in the top three. Some of the comments from one judge was quite strange though, as he claimed he cut points because the “images were grainy.” I did not get to speak with the judges beforehand and remind them that the film was shot in Super8, which has the tendency to be grainy. Silly critics…

Copyright Notices: This film does contain three musical pieces that I am not the rightful copyright owner of. These include: “When You Wish Upon a Star,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” and “A Whole New World.”

About/Notes: This was my first attempt at actual filmmaking. Before this, I had shot a wedding and another school project, but they were both done digitally. Once Upon a Happily Ever After started out as a totally different idea (and therefore title) which I never really liked. The week before Spring Break, which occurred around the middle of March, I thought of another idea and pitched it to my teacher. She approved, and so I began planning everything out. With Spring Break being the next week, I was able to do nothing (I took off work) except focus on storyboarding, locations, and actors. This pre-production time helped me immensely when it came to shooting the film, and I think the results show that.
